Spirit Rising: Young Quaker Voices
Spirit Rising: Young Quaker Voices has just been released by the Quaker Press of FGC. Contributions from Young Friends were edited by Young Friends, making the publishing process a long and very intentional project. Check it out or buy it here
I contributed a shortened version of my motorcycle ministry piece, though unfortunately since I’m still out of the country I’ve not been able to get my hands on a copy. Young friends from all over the world contributed, and there are plans to translate the book into Spanish as well. I really can’t tell you a whole lot more than that yet, though the cover looks sweet.
I’m a little disappointed that there wasn’t space to include any of the pictures of my trip in my piece. My impression is that they both mitigate the harshness of my message and give a better idea of where I went, not something I got into in the piece itself.
In my writing, which is about 5 years old now, I express some concerns about the state of Quakerism. While I continue to hold many of those concerns, efforts like this work give me hope and I am very appreciative of the time and care the editors took to make this project happen.
